Halloween around the globe
Pumpkins and Zombies: Halloween around the globe
"No candy for Sandy," mocked a graffito in Delaware last year before the SuperStorm tore into the country. Elsewhere in America, zombies on surfboards tamed the angry waves. In Tokyo, activists dressed in Halloween costumes staged a march against nukes. In Germany, Halloween went commercial, while Colombia and Costa Rica threw up some of the zaniest costumes. And there were pumpkins, tons of them. And so they will be this year.

A Boy Makes Anti-Muslim Comments In Front Of An American Soldier.
The Soldier's Reply: Priceless.
This powerful social experiment set out to show us a glimpse of the disturbing discrimination many Muslims sadly face every day in America. I began watching this video thinking I would be left feeling disheartened and angry, but the words the soldier says at 5:05 are so powerful that I wish all people who held prejudice could hear him speak.

ALL THOSE WHO ARE PLANNING TO FLY TO BOMBAY IN THE NEXT YEAR OR TWO - YOU
WILL BE LANDING AT THE NEW AIRPORT A COUPLE OF MILES FURTHER - SO TAKE A
LOOK.
Navi Mumbai International airport
The
new international airport, which is to come up at Kopra-Panvel area,is being
built through public-private partnership (PPP) â€' with private sector partner getting
74% equity while Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Govt of Maharashtra (through
City and Industrial Development Corporation or CIDCO) holding 13% each.
The
land required is about 1,140 hectares for the core airport activity and will
have two parallel runways. It is to be located on highway NH 4B near Panvel,
about 35 km from the existing Sahar International Airport in Mumbai. The
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has already given
techno-feasibility clearance to the Navi Mumbai airport.
The
cost of the project, which is being developed through the public-private
partnership route, is estimated at between Rs 3,200 crore and Rs 4,000
crore. The airport will have a terminal area of 2.5-lakh sq.m. and a cargo area
of 1-lakh sq.m and handle 50-55 million passengers.
The
cost of the project, which is being developed through the public-private
partnership route, is estimated at 52.6
billion (US$800 million). The airport will have a terminal area of
250,000 m² and a cargo area of 100,000 m² and handle 50–55 million passengers
annually. The site of airport is located in an area of 9.5 km²
accommodating two parallel runways for simultaneous and segregated parallel
operation with provision of full length taxi ways on either side of the
runways. The airfield has been designed to accommodate the new large aircraft
compatible to aerodrome code 4-F.
The
new airport will cater to 10 million passengers a year in its initial phase
(end-2014), 25 million by 2020, 45 million by 2025, and 60 million by 2030,
according to CIDCO.
The
site had several environmental problems in dealing with mangroves and rain/storm water drains in Panvel. There is an NGO fighting government agencies
regarding Panvel. The ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) gave its
clearance for the Navi Mumbai international airport on 14 May
2008. The finally cleared the project on 23 November 2010.
